Social Bookmarking Advantages:Quick Indexing,Backlinks,Traffic Generation

What is Social Bookmarking?

You must be aware of the term ‘bookmarking’. It means you can save the addresses of web pages, which you like and intend to visit in future, in your browser. The major limitation of this bookmarking method is that if you want to access your bookmarks from other computer, it is not possible.

Social Bookmarking has overcome this limitation. Now, instead of saving bookmarks on a browser, it saves bookmarks on the Internet. This helps you to access your bookmarks from any location and also allows you to share them with your family and friends. You can keep your bookmarks as either private or public.

Since this method of bookmarking on Internet allows easy management and access of bookmarks, it has become very popular. Many people use social bookmarking web sites to get information and knowledge on a subject. This has given opportunity to businesses to market their products and services through these web sites.

Key Benefits of Social Bookmarking

Quick Indexing: The fastest way to have any webpage or site visited by the search engines and indexed is by submitting them to any of the popular social bookmarking sites like StumbleUpon, Digg, Propeller and others.

Traffic Generation: There is more to bookmarking your pages online than just getting indexed; you are also guaranteed some traffic from these sites as soon as you submit to them. Since you will also be tagging (or submitting them under your niche keywords), a lot of the traffic from these sites are also very targeted.

Quality Backlinks: Another key benefit of social bookmarking is that you get anchor text one way backlinks to your site and search engines regard these bookmaking sites as authority sites, also most of the bookmarking sites have high PR which means you get quality backlinks to your site.

Improve Search Engine Rankings: As I mentioned above submitting your sites to various bookmarking sites give you quality backlinks which in return improves your rankings in the search engines and you receive more trageted visitors from search engine result pages.

Difference Between Dofollow and Nofollow Backlinks

The main difference between dofollow and nofollow backlinks is that dofollow backlinks are crawled by search engines and your site gets credited for a backlink while nofollow backlinks are not crawled by search engines and therefore your site is not credited with a backlink.

Which Pages to Submit to Bookmarking Sites

Social bookmarking is a great way to get backlinks to your inner pages. If you have a small site than bookmarking all your pages will help each page rank better for their specific keyword term in the search engines. However if you have a huge site than bookmarking the most important pages along with your home page can be the best strategy for better rankings in the SERP.

Keyword Cannibalization: What it is This?

Today I found a very important on page issue called Keyword cannibalization, this fact generates problem when a newbie webmaster or inexperienced site owner uses one keyword in many pages for which they want rank for.

Let’s explain keyword cannibalization,

Targeting same keyword or keyword phrases on multiple pages of a website in content & title part with the aim to improve search engine ranking. This lead to a confusion to the search engine on which page to rank in SERPs.

All of website owner’s efforts by having this in practice are misguided. It’s a bad idea to use same in every page’s title and in content part.

But the fact is that Keyword cannibalization doesn’t work ..WHY….

Google ranks each page of a website independently of each other

You already (if you are not newbie) know that only maximum 2 pages are ever going to rank in that particular keyword phrase. So what …

Using the same keyword doesn’t help gain extra relevance
By creating more than one pages with same set of title and body content never force to search engine spiders to interpret the site as being more relevant for the same keyword set. All it does is force the spider to choose which page is the best. One page will rank, and the others won’t show up at all.

The quality of your content will suffer
If you are using same keyword in each articles title and content. So what is impact on visitors ? Just think about it

You are severely limiting your search engine traffic potential
Use variations of your keyword phrase that is better. Why are you wasting your time and efforts by ranking every page for a single keyword when there so many others variation occurs

For solution how to avoid keyword cannibalization.I will came with solution shortly.Enjoy read SEO News and Information

Onsite seo for https | Seo of https urls

On Page Issues

• Make sure, the robots.txt is only valid if placed within the same protocol as the site. Place it within the https protocol.
• Make sure, the sitemap.xml, Google verification file, and the other stuff is only valid if placed within the same protocol as the site. Place it within the https protocol.
• Make sure & keep all your files (images, iframes, etc) within the https protocol.
• Https sites are more work for the servers, so there is the possibility of a slower download. Keep your site and the certificate on a high performance host. If it takes too long to download a site Googlebot might go bye bye. Now days site speed is a ranking factor.
• http VS https should have no effect on analytics or SEO.

the only things that will effect search engine indexing are:
- pages disallowed in robots.txt
- pages with 'noindex' meta tag
- pages with external links of 'nofollow'
- pages behind a secure login

So, hypothetically... if your HTTPS pages are behind a secure login, the spiders won't be able to get to them.

Is Page Rank Important really ?

Page rank, is totally based on number and quality of backlinks a webpage has, is an important factor in how well a particular webpage ranks within the Google SERPs.

We can say sometimes Yes and some times No but have sufficient reason behind this important fact. Let’s understand the fact behind it. Let’s understand it on behalf of Indexing and Ranking.

So, Page Rank is primarily important for

- Page Rank is important to derive indexing of your site.
- To determine original source of content when duplicates of a page exist
- Establishing crawl priority and crawl depth of a website
- Selecting the initial set of results (before re-ranking them based on other factors)

But when it come to determine which site ranks better than the next, link diversity is more important than raw page rank.

Google looks on localization and freshness more than page rank and links when they are trying to determine relevancy.

Page rank is query independent, as it is supposed to.

But for rankings it is nowhere near as it was important as it once was besides keywords density and keyword placement are rather have more weight in Google.

New Unavailable after meta tag to manage sale or Promotional

If we will want to specify our some of the pages will unavailable after certain time then what we will do ?
Ok.SoGoogle have a feature about the new unavailable after meta tag announced by Dan Crow on the Official Google Blog . This allows a more dynamic relationship between your site and Googlebot. Just think, with www.abc.com, any time you have a temporarily available news story or limited offer sale or promotional page, you can specify the exact date and time you want specific pages to stop being crawled and indexed.

Let's assume you're running a promotion that expires at the end of 2007. In the headers of page www.abc.com/2010promotion.html, you would use the following:

And the second exciting news: the new X-Robots-Tag directive, which adds Robots Exclusion Protocol (REP) META tag support for non-HTML pages! Finally, you can have the same control over your videos, spreadsheets, and other indexed file types. Using the example above, let's say your promotion page is in PDF format. For www.example.com/2010promotion.pdf, you would use the following:

X-Robots-Tag: unavailable_after: 01-Dec-2010 23:59:59 GMT

Remember, REP meta tags can be useful for implementing noarchive, nosnippet, and now unavailable_after tags for page-level instruction, as opposed to robots.txt, which is controlled at the domain root. We get requests from bloggers and webmasters for these features, so enjoy. If you have other suggestions, keep them coming. Any questions? Please ask them in the Webmaster Help Group.
